About Dr. Tondora

dr_tondora_picI wasn’t always “Dr. T.” After earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1987, I found the perfect job as a helicopter avionics test engineer. I loved flying in those incredible machines! Eight years into my employment however, I had to take a 6-month leave to recover from knee surgery. During my healing, I asked myself, “What do I want to be when I grow up?” I sensed a change in careers was coming. During that inquiry, my physical therapist looked at me and simply said, “You need to be a doctor.” Almost simultaneously a friend suggested I become a Naturopathic Doctor. So I researched the profession and it made perfect sense to me. If we can find the cause of a problem, remove any obstacles to wellness and give the body what it needs, the body will heal itself. I had found my calling!

So in 1995 I moved to Arizona, enrolled at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, and four years later began practicing Naturopathic Medicine. Since then, I have been appointed Clinical Instructor of Naturopathic Medicine at the college and a member of the Clinical Faculty of Rainstar University. I am also a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and a former VP of the Arizona Naturopathic Medical Association.

In 2003, I began practicing yoga and quite simply, yoga saved my life. It provided an outlet for the grief I experienced after the death of my brother, Michael, and it led me to a spiritual path for living. I later deepened my practice of yoga, become a teacher, and developed a seminar called “Yoga, Cancer and Healing,” which I have presented both locally and nationally. It provides a new way of thinking about cancer and chronic disease.

I am proud to be a Naturopathic Medical Doctor and a original member of The Answer for Cancer Tour 2011, as it lines up with my life’s mission of bringing health and wellness to the planet. My clients and colleagues inspire me to live better, do more and give back. I love being a doctor, I love being a teacher, but, mostly, I love being a student of life.
